Jesus Lifted Me – Vol 1

Unconditional Love

Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments

I knew a man for many years that had terrible health problems. I am amazed that he didn’t go into a nursing home many years ago. With the help and support of a very good and compassionate neighbor however, and then hospice, he continued to live at home. Based on what I know, I really respect this man because he had such a strong zest for life. He understood I believe, just how precious this gift of life is that God gave to us. I’m sure many, if not most, would have given up and thrown in the towel long ago. Another person I know that has had severe health problems for years and years is my wife. After battling the effects of MS for over thirty years, she continues to be the most positive person I know and she continues to have an insatiable zest for life. So what is the common denominator for these two people? Mainly, unconditional love and encouragement from God, and unconditional love and encouragement from other people. The man I mentioned earlier had the unconditional love and encouragement of God, and the unconditional love and encouragement of a good neighbor, and those who worked for hospice. My wife has also always received unconditional love and encouragement from God, me, and many others. God’s love always defeats the darkness and it just goes to show that love conquers all. When ministering to another, the best approach is to simply love them and love them and love them and love them and then love them some more. When I see people, like the gentleman I mentioned earlier, and people like my wife, I am so thankful that their are people out there who offer the same type of unconditional love that Jesus demonstrated on the cross. May we all imitate Jesus and love God and others unconditionally the way Jesus did/does. Praise the holy name of Jesus!

Unconditional Love

God’s love for me is unconditional,

It’s not based on how good I’ve been.

God loves me when I’m in His will,

He loves me when I sin.

Imagine how the world would change,

If we had unconditional love for each other.

Forgiveness would be the order of the day,

Between husbands, wives, sisters and brothers.

My love for you should not be based,

On any requirement or condition.

Overlooking the shortcomings of those we love,

Should be our calling and our mission.

None of us are perfect,

We must accept our share of the blame.

If you should ever break my heart,

I’ll love you just the same.
