Exodus 32:1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.
Before I was a Christian and first read the accounts in the Book of Exodus about how Moses went up Mount Sinai and received from God the 10 Commandments, and what he saw when he returned to the base of the mountain where the children of Israel were camped. As a result of their sin many people died that day when Moses came back down from the mountain after his encounter with God. Like me, you also probably thought, wow, these people are really really stupid. Let me start out by saying that the laws of physics automatically controls the behavior of the universe and therefore makes how the universe behaves predictable. That law simply states that for every action there is a reaction. These laws will always hold true unless there is divine intervention. God’s laws, as written in Holy Scripture are meant to control human behavior. Just like the law of physics state that for every action there is a reaction, so it is with God’s law, but it can be best stated as, the penalty of sin is death, unless there is divine intervention. It didn’t take long after I invited Christ into my heart that I realized, that I was no different from those stiff-necked people who were camped at the base of Mount Sinai, that we read about in the Book of Exodus. There is one major difference however, and that is that the blood of Christ continuously washes me of my sin. I did not die as a result of my sin, because Jesus intervened on my behalf, forgive my sin, wrote His law into my heart and mind and began to teach me how to live. That was over 35 years ago, and even though I can see a big difference in the way I live my life and serve God, I also realize that I have a long way to go before I am totally transformed into the image of Christ. I would just like to say to you, that there is only one unforgivable sin that will cause you to die and spend eternity separated from God. And that unforgivable sin is, to continually reject God’s offer of salvation. Remember that today is the day of salvation, for we are not promised another tomorrow. Don’t be stupid, invite Jesus into your heart and start enjoying the rich blessings of God! Praise the holy name of Jesus!
My Salvation
From a troubled past I became a man,
And tried to move on as best I could.
After setting off into the world,
I found my logic was no good.
I was haunted by the past,
And my concept of right and wrong.
Things were coming to a head,
And by God’s grace it wouldn’t take long.
I learned that Jesus is the Rock,
And to think any differently is foolish pride.
I traded my logic for a humble heart,
And said a prayer as the old me died.
I remember thinking after Jesus saved me,
That I was no longer afraid to die.
Jesus reached out and transformed this stoic,
From a caterpillar into a butterfly.
