Jesus Lifted Me – Vol 1

I’ve Got A Story

Overcoming Our Lack Of Resourses

Hello everyone. My name is Ethan W. Moses, and I am the founder of WhisperArt. I would like to say that the song, “Traveling Man”, which is located at the top of the Home page of this website, is not only the theme song for WhisperArt, but also serves as my introduction. Please give it a listen.

I believe I first received God’s call on my life when I was 7 or 8 years old. My family was not religious at the time but we did have a Bible. I was thumbing through our Bible one day and was captivated by Mark 16:15 which says, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” That Bible verse stuck with me from that day forward. And I do not think that it is a coincidence that that is also the mission of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Many years later I accepted Jesus into my heart and I began to start each day with a session of prayer and meditation. This ritual continues even today. First I praise God and talk about those things I am concerned about. Then I attempt to quiet my mind and listen for God’s response. Even though I have been doing this for thirty years, I still get so very excited when God gives me an insight or realization. So excited in fact that I always respond with a poem, devotional or song. I then also have an overwhelming desire to share it with others. That is how WhisperArt came into existence. I built a website and started using technology by placing all the material I write on it and that allowed me to share it with the world.

I have always, like the song, “Traveling Man” says, thought of myself as a virtual missionary. Six months ago I decided, or I was prompted by God, to take my ministry on the road in March of this year. That is why I am here with you today. God reminded me that I had a story to tell that would glorify Him and encourage many others. True to form, I of course had to write a poem that I would like to share with you now entitled:

I’ve Got A Story

I’ve Got A Story, I’ve got a story,

I’ve got a story to tell.

Of how my Savior came from glory,

To rescue me from hell.

He’s been so faithful over the years,

He has been a trustworthy guide.

He has provided for all my needs.

While walking by His side.

God wants me to step out on faith,

And tell others about my story.

So that I don’t suffer Herod’s fate,

God will get all of the glory.

God just keeps on blessing me.

It seems there’s nothing He won’t do.

My friends if He will do it for me,

He will also do it for you.

When on future missionary journeys, I will not be presenting the same material over and over again but rather, I will let people know how God is currently working in my life. One of the greatest tools we have for ministry is to testify about how God is working in our lives. As some of you may know, my wife Pam and I recently switched our membership from Sherwood to Lakewood just before Christmas, for reasons I will not go into at this time. Let me just say that we felt lead by God to switch.

A few weeks ago Pastor Terrell at Lakewood preached a stirring sermon that he called, “Overcoming Our Lack Of Resources”, which I would encourage you to watch on the Lake Baptist Church page under the Outreach menu option of this website.

In the sermon Pastor Terrell compared how Nehemiah, the Kings cup bearer, was so disturbed about the dilapidated condition of Jerusalem after the captivity when the Israelites were allowed to return to the Holy City, that he prayed, and summoned enough courage to ask the King for help in rebuilding Jerusalem. Nehemiah asked the King and the King agreed to supply all the materials Nehemiah would need to rebuild Jerusalem.

Pastor Terrell went on to say that these stories are not in the Bible only for our entertainment but they show us how God operates. With that in mind he went on and described the dilapidated condition of Lakewood Baptist Church which is in great need of repair and renovation, much greater than the local congregation can afford. Just like God impressed upon the King to assist Nehemiah in rebuilding Jerusalem, the Pastor spoke of how God will impress upon those outside of Lakewood, to help with the repair and renovation effort at Lakewood.

I was so impressed with this sermon that I have tailored the WhisperArt website to make available both my books and both my CDs for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to the repair and renovation effort at Lakewood. After I had done this, i begin thinking about the power of God’s word, and how God uses people, like you, me and godly pastors, to build His Kingdom and do His will on this earth.

Since being at Lakewood, I have found Pastor Terrell to be a great ambassador of God and someone worthy of imitating. I then started thinking about why God gave us all these stories in the Holy Bible. I believe he gave it to us, not only to show us how He operates, but also to imitate. Several scriptures came to mind which tell us the types of things we should imitate.

1 Corinthians 11:1 the apostle Paul tells us to Imitate him, just as he also imitate Christ. The apostle Paul was not perfect, he was an apostle yes, but he was just a man. As a matter of fact he himself said that he was chief among sinners, and yet and he invites us to imitate him just as he also imitates Christ. Just look at how Od nightly used the Apostle.

Proverbs 19:20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days. It is the responsibility of the mature Christian to council the newer members of the faith. If the young put into practice what they are taught then they are imitating those who counsel them. Godly counselors and preachers do not just make this stuff up.

Deuteronomy 6:7 speaks of God’s commands in the Bible and tells us: You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. The best way to teach children is to set a good example, to be a good roll model by being obedient to God’s word and pray that your children will imitate you.

And finally, and most importantly, Jesus tells un in John 14:26: These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. If Jesus lives in your heart through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and you are allowing Jesus to live his life through you, then this is the highest form of imitation.

Thank you for your attention. Finally I would like to say that another reason God gave us the Holy Bible is so that we will bump our belief system against God’s Holy Word, then we will be able to ascertain as to whether or not we are being deceived by Satan.

Thank you all for joining me here today. I would like to invite you to visit the WhisperArt website at WhisperArt.net. Tell your friends and family about it, and please respond in the way that God leads. I am not perfect by any means but, like the apostle Paul, I invite you to imitate me.

It is imperative that we study God’s word and apply it to our lives. If we choose to remain ignorant about what God’s word says, then we will miss out on many of God rich and abundant blessings in this life and the life to come. May God richly bless each and everyone of you! Praise the holy name of Jesus!
